Just a quick response to the above comment so anyone reading this doesn’t think this myth (debunked over a century ago) is real.
Emily (who frequently scorns Wheelers lack of knowledge in proper child-care) is mistaken that there is any evidence that being cold or wet or both will ever produce a cold (or any other type of) virus.
Recent studies show that the reason for this myth arising is probably because it is precieved that people get sick more during the autumn and winter months (therefore cold must equal colds), however the real reason is the increased time spent indoors around others that are possibly carrying variations of the virus (which makes it easier to spread).
Therefore my dear, it is much more likely that your child has gotten sick from the bacteria-Mardi-Gras that inhabits all day care facilaties rather than from 4 minutes of playing in the rain with his dad (in which case a jacket and shoes wouldnt do anything but make his skin clammy and create more of a mess). A more logical fix to this problem would be to have the child watched by his father and fathers mother more (family with an inherent love for that individual child) instead of daycare (strangers, paid to raise kids who’s parents can’t or won’t), NOT complaining about him having an expirience and stimulation with rain.
